Mapping is and activity when the planimetry and hypsography of a particular area are located. The contents of planimetry are significant terrain edges, boundaries of hard and soft surfaces and vegetation, construction objects, surface characteristics of underground utilities, trees, bushes and other requested items. The results of mapping are planimetry and hypsography plans in a vectorial format and scale as requested by the customer. This plan is then used by designers, architects or investors mainly for projecting of constructions, conducting of above the ground and underground utilities, terrain adjustments, vegetation placement, and the like.

Geodetic works at construction sites

Geodetic works at construction sites include mainly:

  • mapping (see above)
  • creating exact positional and altitudinal control network of the construction
  • setting exact altitudinal point of the construction via technical, exact or very exact levelling
  • setting particular points according to their position, altitude or in 3D
  • locating the condition before and after terrain or other construction adjustments with consecutive calculation of airspace, and the like
  • control measuring of constructions and consecutively determine the movements in relation to the object
  • locating the real execution of the construction
  • locating, staking and executing of a geometric plan for buying out the grounds before construction start
  • locating, staking and executing of a geometric plan for final inspection of the building

Geodetic works at construction sites require close cooperation of designers, civil engineers and geodesists and quick reacting to construction managers’ demands in progress of the construction. Constructions are projected with respect to parameters given by Czech state norms or ISO norms and require responsible approach and careful execution of all geodetic works that have to be executed by a person who is technically capable according to the legal code of 200/94 of geodesist law, i. e. is a person having geodetic education and having been verified via officially authorized geodetic engineer. Running results and protocols of geodetic works executed at a construction site are generally required by a supervisor in the course of the construction. Thorough execution of all geodetic works at the construction site will be positively shown via accuracy of dimensions and mutual location of each components and construction objects and accord of dimensions, positions and heights both projected and located – actually executed, which has been proved in practice for many times already.

Load tests, observing of deformations and shifts

Observing deformations in load tests are special works that are executed with a millimeter or up to a submillimeter accuracy using classical or special modern technologies. Typical constructions requiring load tests are e. g. bridge constructions, dams, technical reservoirs of various kinds and the like.

Steel constructions and crane tracks

Locating steel constructions and crane tracks is executed with a millimeter or up to a submillimeter accuracy set by ČSN ISO norms. These state horizontality, verticality and mutual position of tracks, girders, columns or other construction features. The locations is executed before final inspection/putting into operation and in case of need, periodical control measuring takes place.

Underground utilities

Underground utilities are:

  • electric cables and over the ground lines
  • telephone cables both under and above the ground
  • pipe lines and sewage system
  • gas pipes

Geodetic works while constructing underground utilities include mainly:

  • mapping for the underground utilities project
  • staking of proprietary borders near the lines
  • location of the real execution of lines
  • location of the real execution according to the regulations of underground utilities’ administrators
  • execution of material burdens to underground utilities and contracts between utilities’ administrators and grounds’ owners
